Nancy Colleton has spent her career studying and promoting the use of space-based Earth observations for business, conservation, and education applications. As the founder and president IGES—now in its 28th year—Ms. Colleton has built a respected nonprofit organization with a diverse client base that includes NASA and private sector firms. She works with government, private industry, and the non-profit executives to drive change in how the United States approaches programs to measure and monitor the Earth, raise the visibility of these valuable technologies, and support commercial sector innovation. From organizing business roundtables on Earth observations with the Secretary of Commerce to producing award-winning videos on nature conservation, Colleton’s experience is truly vast and varied, and always focused on improving the planet. As a subject matter expert, she is currently studying businesses that depend on USG Earth observations and related analytics to create innovative products and services that address climate change, air quality, supply chain issues, blue economy opportunities, and several other areas. She has served as an early advisor to Skybox Imaging, which sold to Google for $500 million in 2014, and has consulted with numerous technology startups. She has been quoted and published in The Washington Post, Boston Globe, Huffington Post, Physics Today as well as others.
