Lynette Shaw is a Data Scientist and former Assistant Professor of Complex Systems at the University of Michigan. She holds a PhD in Sociology with a concentration in statistics from the University of Washington. Her published research has focused on the spontaneous emergence of cultural dynamics from individual cognition and the social construction of cryptocurrencies’ economic worth. She is also a founding board member of the Computational Democracy Project, a non-profit that combines machine learning with insights into socio-technical systems to facilitate large-scale, online deliberation processes across the World.
