As the Director of Mission Assurance, Chelsea Waddill is responsible for strategic and operational leadership of the mission assurance organization, inclusive of disciplines in quality, specialty engineering, and mission risk management. Working closely
with Ball’s Strategic Business and Capabilities Units, Waddill provides leadership through the lens of full life-cycle engineering to mitigate design, manufacture, test and operational risks that could threaten mission success. With extensive experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry, Waddill brings demonstrated mission assurance acumen and strategy to the role. She is recognized for fostering, driving, and implementing innovative ideas with broad impacts.

Since joining Ball in 2011, She has held several roles within
the company and was most recently the Manager for Tactical Mission Assurance. In this role, she was responsible for risk- based consultation across all phases of the product development lifecycle to ensure mission success. She developed capabilities commensurate with the business needs during a time of unprecedented growth that apply radio frequency and electro optical technologies to the nation’s defense needs in C4ISR, precision strike, air dominance and electronic warfare.

Waddill was once a junior Olympic athlete and attributes her heavy focus on continuous improvement and iterative refinement as a natural transition into the mission assurance profession. Waddill is passionate about developing people, teambuilding and leveraging that team – bringing out the best of everybody to achieve success. This passion has roots in her transition from athlete to coach within the gymnastics community.

Waddill received a BSE in aerospace engineering and minored in business and dance at Arizona State University, Tempe. She also received an MBA from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
