Andrew Nelson is Vice President – Aerospace for RS&H, Inc., the Architecture, Design and Engineering firm. With over 30 years in the aerospace, aviation and space industry domestically and internationally Andrew has extensive experience as an engineer, strategist, business developer, trusted advisor, change agent and executive. With RS&H Andrew is a solutions-orientated partner and creative leader for his clients and team bringing the extensive resources and heritage space infrastructure design, engineering and implementation capabilities of RS&H to a broad array of aerospace companies, spaceports and government clients seeking to succeed in the rapidly evolving and expanding commercial space sector. Nelson started his career at the Eastern Missile Test Range with Pam Am World Services, continued at the MITRE Corporation, then Booz Allen & Hamilton where he led the International Aviation & Space business from London and Paris. Nelson spent 8 years working in the investment banking world, followed by 7 years as VP Business Development / Chief Operating Officer and then President of XCOR Aerospace. He then ran his own firm Nelson Aerospace where he advised private equity, venture capital and public securities firms on commercial space investments and served major infrastructure development clients on technical, operational, and regulatory / licensing issues. Nelson received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University, studied at the London School of Economics, and was awarded his MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management. Nelson currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the commercial space industry’s standardization committee, ASTM F47.
